Now, with the new mandate to innovate the bottle bill, in Maine, MRC finds itself in a similar situation, where our resources and philosophy of design can benefit as well as potentially reduce the amount of financial strain that the new mandates place on all IODs.
At MRC we take pride in our role as stewards of sustainability, dedicated to helping keep Maine beautiful. MRC is a trusted pickup agent for major IODs in Maine, utilizing a fleet of over 250 trailers and 30 trucks for statewide services. In the past six months MRC expanded its footprint to include a second drop-off and processing facility in Bangor, Maine, to support new business while cutting down nearly 2000 trucks off the road in order to reduce expenses and emissions.

Maine Recycling Corporation (MRC) is a Multi-Initiator of Deposits (IODs) owned group. The group of owner IODs represent roughly 20% of the entirety of Sales and Redeemed units in the State of Maine. The intent of its beginnings in 1977, was designed to protect the interest of our IOD’s.
The highly successful Maine Bottle Bill is estimated to account for 1 billion units sold, and 750 to 800 million units redeemed annually. As the formation of MRC accomplished its original purpose with great success, MRC decided, in 2004, to extend our pickup and processing to other likeminded IODs.
