I am a town or municipality that has some recyclable material. Will you pick it up?
Maine Recycling Corp. occasionally provides a pick up service for towns or municipalities within a 100 mile radius. Maine Recycling does however charge a pick up fee which is usually deducted from the net price paid for any product. The pick up fees are based upon your geographic location.
If Maine Recycling Corp. finds contaminants in our load, will you reject it or refuse to pay for it?
Maine Recycling Corporation does place great emphasis on clean loads with very few contaminants. However, we place an equal amount of emphasis on furthering the recycling effort in Maine. We very rarely will reject a load, and even more rarely, refuse to pay for it. We are more than willing to work with any facility to help further educate on the "do's and don'ts" of recycling.
Is Maine Recycling Corp. also a redemption center?
No. While we do handle UBC's is only to process. By the time the UBC reaches Maine Recycling, it has already been through the redemption process.
What is the difference between Maine Recycling Corp. and a landfill?
Some states do not currently have a bottle bill(state law that makes distributors responsible for the end processing of their UBC's). Also, some state's general recycling programs may not be as promoted as they are in Maine. While Maine Recycling processes UBC's and other materials for further use, some material still finds it's way into landfills where it is disposed of by burial. So, in summary, landfills are the final resting place for material, while Maine Recycling takes that same material and processes it for reuse.
When will I receive payment for the material delivered to Maine Recycling Corp?
Payment terms are Net 30. (Assuming that Maine Recycling is paying for scrap at that time-scrap markets do not always allow us to pay for scrap)
What is a UBC?
UBC is an acronym for Used Beverage Container.
Does Maine Recycling Corp. accept tin cans?
Maine Recycling Corp. is not currently accepting steel cans of any type. One may wish to try Mainemetal.com as they deal typically with scrap of that nature.
After Maine Recycling Corp. processes the material, what happens to it?
After the material is processed (see tour), it is shipped to one of a number of international or US manufacturers and processors that break the material down further to it's final form for reuse.
